Frequently asked questions

We want clients to be fully informed about what living independently with Parallel Options will mean to them and encourage questions and discussion. These are some of the most frequently asked questions clients put to us.

How will you guarantee that I have the properly trained staff?

We are very careful about choosing the right people to join our team. All of our staff have the professional training, qualifications and experience that they need to do this type of work.

Can I be involved in choosing my own staff?

Yes. Your staff will be such a big part of your life, so it is important that you feel comfortable with them. We want you to live in a relaxed environment, supported by people you get on well with, which will help you to feel more confident and independent.

How will you make sure that I have my choices, likes and dislikes met by staff?

We understand that there are certain things that are important to you so we include these in your support plan. We know that everyone we work with is unique so respecting their different likes and dislikes is an important part of the way we work.

Can I organise my own home and what I want there?

Yes, as long as what you want to do in your home will not put your own or other people’s health and safety at risk.

How will you make sure that I have continuity of care?

Your support plan enables staff to provide the assistance you need on a day-to-day basis. This will be delivered by your staff team under the guidance of your team leader. Your staff team will be known to you, so the same people will be with you during your stay with us.

What will you do if my needs change?

We understand that change is a part of everyone’s life. As time passes, you may need less support, more support or different kinds of support. If your needs change, we will make sure that the support you receive changes to reflect this. Your support plan is reviewed regularly to make sure that it is always right for you.

How will you involve my parents or carers in any changes to my support plan?

Your parents or your carers want the best for you so it is important that we talk to them when we prepare or review your support plan and discuss any changes with them.

What will my staff do with me?

Your staff will support you with day-to-day activities such as shopping, help with bills, your rent, going out socially, looking for work or going to college.

Who is the main person I will be able to talk to?

You will have a case worker who will be your first point of contact.

How do I make a complaint if I am not happy?

When you join us, you will be given a handbook with lots of information about Parallel Options, including our complaints policy and how to make a complaint. There are a number of ways in which you can complain, for example, you can tell your case worker if you are unhappy with anything, or you can write to the manager at Parallel Options.
